GoCozumel Monthly Newsletter, April 2007
A personal look at the island, written by an American who has lived on
Cozumel since May 2000.
UVAs Beach Club
|
Take the old oceanfront road about 5 miles south of town and just before you get to the entrance to Chankannab National Park is UVAS Beach Club. |
 |
 |
 |
| Here they have transparent kayak tours and snorkeling tours. There is an entry fee here of $7, a bar/restaurant and a swimming pool. |
Playa Mia
Only about a ˝ mile farther south of the 3 beaches I listed in last months newsletter is Playa Mia.
I have never stopped at this beach club as I had heard there was an
entry charge plus there are normally quite a few large buses parked
outside the Beach Club. The day I took this photo there were 6 or 7 tour
buses parked outside. I have been told that this is where many of
the cruise ships take passengers.. |

|
Mr. Sanchos
 |
Also south is Mr. Sanchos. There was no entry fee here and things seemed reasonably quiet the day I was there. You’ll find a great many shops there plus a restaurant and a small swimming pool. |

|
 |

|

|
| Just after you turn in to Mr. Sanchos, before you go through the arch leading to the beach they do have horseback riding. |

Excellent Restaurant
Wynston's is a restaurant on the top floor of the north building at El Cantil condos. It’s on Avel Melgar (the main waterfront street) between Calle 13 and Calle 15
(Calle 15 has signs that now say Ave. Xel Ha)
I enjoyed a wonderful dinner there not long ago. I went with friends, and we all really enjoyed the experience.
It was expensive for Cozumel, but not that expensive considering the quality of the meal, the presentation, the service, etc. |

|
| The waiters were attentive without hovering over us. Overall, I was very impressed and my congratulations to Wynston’s. I will definitely be going back. Oh…and the view from there is beautiful. |
New friends
Several new friends have made themselves right at home at my place. There’s a cat that now sleeps on my front patio most nights and another that likes the wall just under the palapa in the back yard. Plus, there’s a very fat frog that I see quite often in the garden and he does like to swim in the pool too. And then…at times I see him waiting by the back door as if he wants to get in. |

| EXCHANGE RATE
During April the exchange rate that we saw at the money exchanges and the banks when changing dollars into pesos on Cozumel varied from
10.6 to 10.7 pesos to the U.S. dollar.
